Marceline progress

I am going to try to make blog posts for all my future cosplays in progress. I will try to take more photos and attempt to continue to make videos (though I haven't been good at keeping up with that). For now, I'll post the progress of a cosplay in which I had my very first prop for.

The upside about this is I did take progress pictures of my prop, the downside is I seemed to forget to take any pictures of the finished product, full makeup and whatnot.

It's hard to see, but I had t hand dye the gloves yellow, I'm also not wearing my body paint.

The top is a big too bulky and rounded for my liking, and I almost didn't carry it around with me, but I plan to carve it down and sharpen the edges and repaint it to make it look better. I'm also going to add guitar strings.
I also did a quick makeup text with the lipstick (used a very fat eyeliner pencil actually)
The pants I had to midify myself and I got to use some of the most beautiful buttons! I took a pair of my hand me down jeans and modified them to actually fit my properly.
What's really funny is that I pinned down the sides, and tried them on first, but I wasn't thinking, so when I went to take them off, all the pins turned inwards and stabbed down my legs.  had funny marks down my legs for a solid week!
These are the sacrifices I make for cosplay <3

Cafe Debut

This is a long over due post, but Momo Maid Cafe debuted on the 8th of December and it was a blast! We learned the hard way that December was just a bad time. However, our customers gave us positive feedback and the next time will be even better than ever!

Here are some photos from the day!
Our first customer had a lot of fun because we weren't too busy so we ended up all playing games with him and he got to meet all the maids and butlers!
There were more pictures taken, but I have those posted on the website, so go check it out!

Maid Cafe

I am going to write up a little blog post about Maid Cafe's in general, because I'm really excited about the start up of Momo Maid Cafe (the maid cafe that I'm going to be running).

First I'll start with the general what is it question. Maid cafes originate in Japan, and they're a place where people come in to eat and be served. You might be thinking, isn't that just a restaurant then? Nope! These cafes are a little special in that the servers dress and act like a maid/butler!

When you come in, they welcome you home as the master of the house and guide you to your seat. The meals served there are special in each different cafe and are all unique depending on the theme. What's really fun about it is that it can be very interactive and the maids can sing and dance for you as well! In some maid cafes featured in America, such as ones at anime conventions, the maids will play a game with you (like the crocodile game, or a quick card game).

All maid cafes are different. In some, the maid may just stand in the back until you need something, and be out of your way as quick as possible, in others they can even be in cosplay!

There are however some general courtesies and/or rules for these cafes.
-No touching. This is more a courtesy! I mean you don't touch your server at any other restaurant, and generally the butlers handle this rule. You can be kicked out if the touching becomes inappropriate.

-No pictures. Most maid cafes have this rule because it's a private, special treat. they want it to be almost secret what's going on in there (because other maid cafes are constant rivals, they don't want their dishes to be revealed!). Also, some girls that may work as maids might not want other people, friends or family, knowing that they work there. That is why when a special prize is a picture with a maid it's a really big deal!

-Be quiet/respectful. You are sharing this area with other customers, and most of them come to relax and have a sort of "home away from home" so if you're noisy and disturbing other's peace, you may be asked to quiet down. It's more out of respect than an actual rule, but it's followed like a rule never the less.

Now for Momo Maid Cafe specifically, we have all those rules of course! The no pictures rule is for any of the maids who really don't want people taking their pictures and plastering them all over Facebook. We do also have contests for free picture with the maid, or if that maid doesn't want a picture, then possibly she could be an exclusive maid just for you for one visit.

It's really a lot of fun and the girls are all very excited to be there! Of course there will be one group photo for the Facebook page or the website page (HERE) but we mostly ask that no other pictures be take. Of course at conventions it's hard to monitor that, and most of our maids don't mind getting their pictures taken, we do reserve the right to ask for certain pictures to be removed from Facebook if one of the maids disapproves.

Garnier BB Cream Review

So I'm not going to make a video for this, because it's a bit unrelated. However I wanted to post something about it. I bought Garnier's advertised BB Cream. My skin is sensitive and breaks out whenever I use any kind of concealer no matter cheap, reasonable, semi-expensive, or ridiculously expensive. I've tried a lot of different brands, types and whatnot and all of them see to make my face break out after two-three consecutive days of wearing them.

The problem with this is that for convention weekends, when people are taking pictures galore, I'd like to be able to wear concealer so that I don't have to worry about being self-conscious! I want to be able to do so without having to treat my face for weeks afterwards to calm the acne flare.

I heard a ton of great things about BB cream and decided to try this Garnier brand because I could get it for $11 at my local Walmart. It's not so expensive that it's a total loss if it's no good, and it's cheap enough that I'd gladly buy more.

I got the Light/Medium because my skin is lighter and I prefer a lighter concealer as well, it makes my face look brighter, more awake and softer (In my own opinion).

Now for the review part!

The first day I used it, I used a powder afterwards, and my skin felt heavy and I remembered that the powder I used makes me break out. The next day I did it without the powder and it was fantastic! I used it a couple more days after and I really enjoyed the results. It worked as a nice foundation and a moisturizer.

I use this foundation all Comicon weekend and really enjoyed it.

Cosplay Haul Pictures

Since the quality of the video I made is shot, have some pictures! I apologize for the video quality. My next one will be much better and I'll be using my HD video camera (because I'll find it in all these boxes!)

I'm going to have a contest. Guess what my secret cosplay is!

Just to review, the things shown in this video are: Plastic mask (going to be used as a mold), BB cream, Golden Yellow color fabric dye for a belt, Black wig caps.

In this picture are black booty shorts that are very stretchy and nice.

Lastly, my red pants, fit me skin tight, made of spandex, nylon and something else, very comfy, very roomy.

The winner of the contest will be the FIRST complete right answer (need to have the name of the character). Comment below to answer/participate! Winner will receive an anime DVD~

Giveaway

So waaaay back in August, I promised a giveaway...

And I never got back to you people about the winner! I made a second video to apologize and announce the winner, however I never got around to editing it and posting it! HOWEVER I did save the username that won, and I'll be mentioning them in my next video! I'm really thankful for all of you that have subscribed to me on YouTube and have been so supportive! There are so many subscribers now and I plan to do another giveaway, this time with an even better prize.

I am going out to shop for cosplay things, and so I'll make a haul video and announce the giveaway winner. You can be expecting this video to be posted around Friday or Saturday (depending on how busy I am).

I'll try to be posting more videos and keep it more steady, but for now enjoy two videos one right after the other!
